Visual Geomorphology

Visualization of geomorphology applied to the Liguria region [2009]

The video focuses on the visual aspects of the geomorphology of the Liguria region, offering a detailed visualization of the alpine coastal valleys in the West, the large-scale structures of Val Fontanabuona e Val di Vara, the Portofino promontory, finally focusing on the area of Val d'Aveto in the interior. The trajectory of the camera is adaptive to the terrain in that it closely follows the characteristics of the geomorphology (shape and form of relief), a measure thought to result in a movie that better reflects the features of the landforms.

Made with Natural Scene Designer 4 on AMD Opteron 1210 and AMD BE-2300. Additional processing with VideoMach, editing with Pinnacle Studio 10.

Research (see abstract) in collaboration with Prof. Brandolini at the University of Genoa, and presented at GeoItalia2009 (Rimini).
