In relation to the document Ruocco (2007) listed on this page until March, 15 2009, the IEEE commission, while considering the article
"Fabrikant, S. I., Montello, D. R., and Mark, D. M. (2006). The Distance-Similarity Metaphor in Region-Display Spatializations, IEEE Computer Graphics & Application, July/August 2006: 34-44."
found the claims of plagiarism advanced by Ruocco as not true. Therefore those claims are completely retracted. We also apologize with Dr. Fabrikant and Dr. Montello for the unfair treatment caused by the document, which did not put in the right perspective the work of the authors.
