Realdigm

Realdigm stands for "REALity-ParaDIGM". We appreciate the beauty of role-playing games appeared on computers in the last 10 years, but the more they are big and sophisticated, the more they lack of a realistic concept of reality. That can be easily perceived even from the perspective of a casual gamer. The experience of reality in games is becoming more complex and detailed and not only in graphics, but it is pointing to the wrong direction.

Characters controlled by the computer should not stand still for days under the pouring rain waiting for the blessing of player's action, and elegant ladies should neither start a fight against an armed warrior just because the trigger-script says so. The defects of concept for most games extend to frustrating fantasy geography, and shallow focus on combat action-reaction, and not on tactical use of vision and hunter's intelligence.

We are preparing a new conceptual scheme for the world and the characters controlled by the computer, based on a more sophisticated structure than "physics+response patterns".

We propose to switch to a scheme which is more faithful to the human visual world, to the inherent characteristics of objects, to the non-specified implications of normal situations.

Our approach is based on ecological perception, and proposes self-organizing worlds not based on rules but on the emergent properties of the world itself, regulated by adaptation of living characters in an evolving, living world.

We plan on releasing a concept demo of Realdigm soon.
